Emma Woodhouse is smart, pretty and rich. She certainly stands out in Highbury, the boring English town where she lives. She is the queen of entanglement and always participates – not to say that she provokes them, that too – in all the love affairs around her. For this reason, she sometimes has to face the consequences of several matches without a happy ending. And what about your own love life? Emma is so concerned about the others that she is not very aware of her own. As usual, she will suffer the occasional romantic disaster before she finds true love, but she has no special interest in the latter either. What she likes the most is being the official matchmaker and making the people around her happy and have a perfect life. Or what she considers to be a perfect life. Mr. Elton, Jane Fairfax and Harriet Smith will be just a few of her next victims.

This is not the first time that Jane Austen’s novel Emma has been adapted to the big screen. Douglas McGrath already did it in 1996 with Gwyneth Paltrow as the protagonist. Also based on this classic, a year earlier Clueless (or Out of Wave, as it was translated in Spain) was released, a film that set the story in the 90s, consolidated the career of Alicia Silverstone and of which her wardrobe is still remembered. If you liked these, you cannot miss the version that will be released on April 17. Here, in addition, we leave you five other reasons why it is worth taking it into account.
